About Us

Thank you for trusting us with your care and allowing us to provide the support you deserve.

Emily Remba, our founder, shares the story of how Reproductive Mental Health and Wellness came to be:

I never knew how hard it would be to have a baby. In 2017, after experiencing four pregnancy losses, a subsequent high-risk pregnancy that culminated in a month-long stay on hospital bed rest, an emergency c-section at 34 weeks gestation, and a relatively short NICU stay, my husband and I were finally able to bring home our sweet daughter to complete our family. I knew then that I wanted to help others experiencing challenges on their own reproductive journeys.

When I returned from maternity leave, I decided to shift the focus of my already thriving general psychotherapy practice to specialize in perinatal mental health. I immersed myself in professional trainings on topics such as Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders (PMADs) and fertility counseling to ensure I was ready to provide therapy from a perspective that was not limited to my own lived experience.

Reproductive Mental Health and Wellness, which I affectionately refer to as my second child, was born in late 2019 when I could no longer book all of the new client referrals that were being sent my way and couldn’t bear turning them away. My decision to expand my practice to a group was with the vision of providing specialized, quality, accessible mental health services to people struggling with infertility, pregnancy loss, pregnancy stressors, postpartum mood and anxiety disorders, and parenting challenges. I set out to find amazing clinicians and for them to feel supported, empowered, and educated in order to do high quality, fulfilling work.

The pandemic hit not long after hiring our third therapist and drastically changed how we expected our group to grow and operate; in fact, thanks to telehealth we have been able to grow more quickly and reach more people than I ever imagined. Working remotely has also allowed us to maintain flexible schedules and prioritize work/life balance.

We are now a group of nearly 20 therapists from multiple, related disciplines who have joined together from all over California to work with a population we are deeply passionate about. Many of the therapists I have carefully selected have also experienced one or more of the challenges that we now have the privilege of supporting our clients through. As one of our incredible therapists says “I am grateful to be the therapist I wish I’d had many years ago.”

Reproductive Mental Health and Wellness, our therapists, and your experience with us are all incredibly important to me. We aren’t just another group practice backed by a faceless tech company; we are family owned and family run. You may even speak to my husband, Daniel, on the phone, who is also our practice manager. We’ve built this practice from the ground up; it hasn’t been easy but it has definitely been worth it.

Warmly,
