Alyson Simons, ASW
You knew parenthood would have its challenging moments, but the reality of being a parent 24/7 is much harder than you had ever imagined. Adjusting to pregnancy, birth, and postpartum life is difficult and demanding. The flood of emotions (anywhere from deep love, to frustration, anger, guilt, and despair) can be confusing, overwhelming, and distressing. Every parent deserves support in the wonderful and often messy transition to parenthood, and I hope you will allow me to be that support for you.
My name is Alyson Simons, and I am an associate clinical social worker (ASW) working under the license and supervision of Traysi Chong, LCSW. I have both the academic and personal background to help clients work through challenges related to pregnancy loss/miscarriage, birth trauma, and perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. As a therapist, I will create an environment filled with genuine compassion where you feel safe. We will work together to build on your strengths to help you find your new normal, feel confident as a parent, and achieve overall physical and mental health.
I hold a B.A in psychology from University of California, Santa Barbara and an MSW from University of California, Los Angeles. Additionally, I have completed training courses in perinatal mental health and reproductive grief and loss.
My self-care time is spent with my laid-back husband of eight years, our three young children and our goofy Goldendoodle and pet snake. I love spending time outside exploring southern California as a family, camping in our converted van, and enjoying beach days while my husband surfs. I consider it a privilege to do this work and look forward to connecting with you!
