Licensed Clinical Social Worker

LCSW #113447

Welcome, I am so excited that you are here! My name is Amanda and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and I have been working in the mental health field for over ten years. I am bilingual in English and Spanish and have worked with an abundance of populations, but my passion lies within families, and in particular, parents. The journey to parenthood does not begin once a child is born, I believe the journey begins when the desire to become a parent is present. What a journey it is! I am here to support you with any complex feelings and experiences, listen to what you are wanting to gain from therapy, and to remind you that you do not have to go through it alone. Therapy can feel intimidating and/or overwhelming, and I am here to help you carry those feelings, so that you can focus on what really matters to you.

I received my Masters in Social Work (MSW) from New York University and I have training and experience working with veterans, teenagers, foster youth, Latinx, newly immigrated, previously incarcerated, parents, and the zero to five population. In 2021, I became certified in Positive Parenting(Triple P), and supported countless families in a health clinic setting, to manage challenging, overwhelming behaviors with children and families. My clinical experience is often related to trauma, anxiety, depression, parenting challenges, and life adjustments. I utilize a trauma informed, strengths based approach in my work, while acknowledging systems and barriers that may be impacting you to meet your personal goals. I have also experienced my own journey in parenthood, and know how unique those experiences can be for each person.

Building rapport and trust is profound when working together, so I strive to create a non-judgmental, honest, and empathetic environment. An environment tailored to your needs and allowing space for you to process your emotions and experiences in a humanistic way. You are your own person above all else - you have your own experiences, opinions, views, and I strive to not invalidate who you are, but support you with getting to where you want to be. I recognize that parenthood and having a family is not a simple construct and can vary on gender, sexuality, personal identity, and cultural background. I applaud you for taking the next step in your personal work and whole-heartedly encourage you to reach out - let’s do some work together!

Outside of the therapy room, you can find me spending time with my husband and daughter, going for new hikes/walks by the beach, and enjoying the sun. I also like to listen to podcasts, take spinning classes, and garden in my yard.
