Registered Associate Clinical Social Worker

ASW #113647

Welcome! As a clinical social worker associate under the supervision of Sheila Kubota, LCSW, PMH-C, I am currently accepting new clients. I specialize in perinatal mental health, having trained with Postpartum Support International. The truth is, this stage of life is as hard as it is transformative. My practice blends empathy and understanding with a touch of candor and a sense of humor, empowering you as we work together to achieve your distinct goals, even as you steer through life's unpredictable terrain.

Navigating this life stage deserves an expert care team including individuals focused on your mental health and wellbeing - that is my role on your team. My passion for the field and advocacy for the best possible experience of those navigating fertility, pregnancy, postpartum, and parenthood transitions were inspired by my own experiences with infertility and pregnancy. I draw from an academic foundation in perinatal mental health (MSW from University of Southern California in Adult Mental Health and Wellness) and from hands-on experience with high-risk pregnancies and assisting parents in distress.

In our collaborative sessions, your vision of a great life is the roadmap and our work will help you reach your well-being on your terms. I will hear you, walk alongside you in times of doubt, and gently encourage you to stretch beyond your comfort zone at a pace you agree on. I utilize a range of therapeutic modalities, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Emotionally-Focused Therapy (EFT), and trauma-informed care, and I have roots within the LGBTQ+ community. My approach is tailored to your specific needs and perspective. Often in this practice we work on adapting to significant changes, easing the disruptive impact of anxiety, healing from pregnancy loss, recovering from birth complications or NICU hospitalizations, persevering through fertility journeys, and preparing for pregnancy and postpartum amidst existing mental health concerns.

The relationship with your therapist is the cornerstone of our work together. I encourage you to trust your instincts and connect with the person whose voice resonates with you. If you are struggling to find a therapist who matches your own experience, this is something we can talk about openly together - it's my job to lower barriers to getting great care, to see your experience and meet you where you are at.

My own self-care revolves around adventuring and taking risks - solo and with my friends, my partner, and my pup Nova - exploring wilderness, freediving, and engaging with wildlife. My work with clients is a commitment to their genuine, self-determined wellness and I look forward to being a part of your path towards thriving, step by step.
