Are you struggling adjusting to life’s complexities? Do you feel stuck and feel like you cannot catch a break? Maybe your journey towards or in parenthood is not matching what you envisioned. Perhaps you are struggling with grief after loss and you want to find joy again. I am here to support you with the challenges life can bring and help you work towards your goals. You have made the courageous step to reach out. I understand from professional and personal experiences how difficult that can be. I am here to help you heal. You don’t need to go at it alone. My name is Elyse, I am a Registered Associate Clinical Social Worker (ASW), working under the supervision and license of Traysi Chong, LCSW.
I received my Advanced Standing, Masters in Social Work at San Diego State University. My background consists of serving people of all ages and backgrounds in government, non-profit, and healthcare settings to overcome trauma, emotional, and behavioral struggles. I have specialized experience providing support to individuals and their families who have experienced brain injuries. I also hold specialized experience working with adoptees and individuals that have been in the foster care system. The majority of my experience has been working with individuals and families who have survived trauma. I have training in perinatal mental health and reproductive loss and am working towards my Perinatal Mental Health Certificate. I feel honored to do this work.
My therapeutic style is joining my clients where they are at, having empathy, being curious, and holding a warm, safe, nonjudgmental space. You are the expert of your life and you have made it through so much up to this point. You can expect me to gently share insights/patterns to help you heal and thrive. I have a strong intuition and view therapy as a partnership. I utilize different therapy modalities based on what my clients need support with. The treatment approaches that I lean most towards are Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, and Motivational Interviewing.
Aside from therapy, I love being outdoors. I enjoy walking trails by my home, gardening, relaxing in my hammock, and riding horses. Otherwise, you might find me painting abstract art, doing some yoga stretches, cuddling with my cat Remi, or watching a movie with my husband. I look forward to getting to know you. I am thrilled to be privileged enough to hear your story and assist you on your healing journey.
