Katelin Buchanan, LPCC
Lead Licensed Therapist
I am a licensed professional clinical counselor (LPCC) with over 10 years of experience treating adolescents and adults struggling with a wide range of issues; more recently, however, I have become particularly passionate about working with individuals struggling with infertility and pregnancy loss. Combining post-graduate training in fertility counseling and firsthand experience, I strongly believe counseling is an invaluable tool for individuals navigating through their journey of becoming a parent. I consider the relationship between the client and therapist to be the most critical component of counseling; in order for the client to feel empowered to change throughout the process they must feel unconditionally safe, respected, and supported.
As my client, you should always expect me to be fully present, empathetic, and non-judgmental. I want you to know that I always have your best interest in mind and that while you are ultimately the one who can make change in your life, I am there to support you in doing so. I value holistic and cognitive behavioral techniques and believe there are many ways to improve one’s overall mental and physical health.
I hold a B.A. in developmental psychology from Duke University and a MA Ed. from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. I am a San Diego transplant and after living on the east coast all of my life, am thoroughly enjoying all that this beautiful city has to offer! I try to spend my free time with my husband and twin rainbow babies at the beach, exploring new restaurants, running, and taking advantage of technology to keep in touch with family and friends in Virginia. I consider it a privilege to do this work and genuinely look forward to being a part of your journey.
